March 2022 Newsletter
C.U.R.E. is here.
From the day of diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond:
The support doesn’t stop when the treatment stops.
And we are so thankful for our friends who make our support possible.
Spotlight on: Charlotte
Sweet Charlotte loves music and the sound of Robin Williams’ voice.
She loves to look at everything, especially anything lit up!
Charlotte loves to play and smile at everyone she meets!
While at the hospital, Charlotte likes watching movies: Aladdin is her favorite, but she loves the bright colors in Trolls.
She was diagnosed at 2 and a half weeks when she developed blueberry muffin rash on September 13th 2021. She has since beat the odds and is doing so much better. Although she has such a long road ahead, if she can smile so can we.
It’s a date!
In-Person events are back!
Congratulations to our Friends
Both Bailey and Danielle rang the End of Chemo Bell at our office in February, signifying their end of treatment! We are so excited for our friends and wish them all the best!
We were featured on a website recently! Check out “Kindness Champions” and be sure to follow them! They post Fri-Yay stories weekly and highlight the work being done around our community (and beyond!). The page also includes a blog with helpful information.
Catching Dreams
Catching Dreams Charters, Inc. hosts private fishing charters near Buffalo on Lake Erie or the Niagara River for pediatric oncology or hematology children.
We have connected with Ned, the Founder of this organization, and would love to connect our C.U.R.E. Kids to Ned and schedule some fishing charters! Charters are scheduled for during the week from mid-May through Labor Day and leave from the Buffalo Harbor or near the Niagara River.
Please reach out to Laurie Streb if you are interested in a private fishing charter.
Donate Blood or Platelets!
Many of our children depend on blood transfusions and blood products in the course of their treatment. Our children are in need of blood products and you can help! Please consider donating blood if you are well enough to.

GRYT Health connects patients and caregivers to others with shared experience and to information relevant to their journey.
Through the GRYT app, we’ve created a platform for people affected by cancer to connect to others with similar experiences, and to tailored information that helps our users become more aware of options specific to their needs or diagnosis – empowering them to make choices that are right for them.
Our community of patients, survivors, medical professionals, researchers and advocates across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 100 countries worldwide have participated in almost 1,000,000 interactions to date, inspiring people to live according to their own standards.
Trust from our community is paramount to our success and something we take very seriously. We never share any of our users’ information without their explicit permission. Unlike other apps, GRYT is the first social community that is funded, built, and run by patients and caregivers where users communicate anonymously in real-time and each person is 100% in charge of what happens with their data.
Thank you, Deb!
Deb Zalar was so kind to donate the materials needed for our Bereaved Families to make these beautiful ornaments at the December Bereavement meeting. Those who attended brought a photo of their angel and added it to the bulb along with special adornments. Thank you for always thinking of our families, Deb!
Thank you, Nightmare Manor.
Our friends at Nightmare Manor collected donations for C.U.R.E. during their attraction in October. They also donated passes for our families to enjoy some spooky fun! Nearly $900 was donated in memory of Landon Coia. Thank you for honoring Landon’s memory and thinking of our families.
Thank you, Rush Henrietta Girls Basketball & the Natural Helpers Club
A huge thank you to our friends at Rush Henrietta! Their Girls Basketball Team and Natural Helpers Club partnered together for the Have a Heart Half Time Raffle! They raised over $500 for our Families!
You filled our buckets, Fyle Elementary!
In an effort to fill our buckets (and our hearts), the Community at Fyle Elementary went above and beyond! Our Friends collected change and paper money to the tune of over $2,000! We are so touched by these little, kind hearts! Thank you for filling our bucket so we can fill our Families’ buckets!
INCREDIBLE!
The Model UN Club at Hilton High School is just that: incredible! They raised over $6,500 in their “Jar Wars” and designated those funds to help our C.U.R.E. Families. We are overwhelmed by your kindness and beyond impressed with your fundraising abilities! What a tremendous impact these students have made. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
THE Race With Grace 10K…
To the dedicated, selfless individuals who lovingly planned and executed this wonderful event for 30 years:
We appreciate you.
We appreciate the time you took to coordinate every detail of this event, always keeping in mind the experience of the participants and ensuring their happiness.
We appreciate your leadership in our community, establishing a Thanksgiving race to benefit charity.
We appreciate your kindness in wanting the funds raised to make a difference to local charities.
We appreciate your sacrifice, eating Thanksgiving dinner with your family late - as your entire morning (and evening before) were consumed with RWG activities.
Thank you for this gift of 11 years of support to C.U.R.E. Families. It has been an honor and a privilege to get to know you, work alongside you and learn from you.
Events are back!
