This list of resources is by no means intended to be exhaustive. However, we have attempted to include the largest and most valuable resources that are available on the Internet. ACOR The Association of Cancer Online Resources is an internet based non-profit. The main benefits of this site are gained by joining one of their disease specific list-servs and connecting with other parents.
American Brain Tumor Association Provides the information patients and their families need to understand their treatment choices to be active participants on their healthcare team. Offers information about the newest treatments, physicians and support services for brain tumor families.
Band-Aids and Blackboards This is a site that includes helpful tips for taking medication and talking to friends about illness, games, poems, graphics, art, photos, essays, and true stories from other young people with chronic illness.
Candelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation Founded by parents of children with cancer, this organization offers support services for young people who have cancer or who have survived cancer as well as families of childhood cancer patients. The CCCF maintains an information library and regularly publishes newsletters that discuss issues related to childhood cancer.
National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship The oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization in the country and a highly respected authentic voice at the federal level that advocates for quality cancer care for all Americans and empowering cancer survivors.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention This site connects you to information provided by the CDC. It contains information about the treatment and prevention of contagious or communicable diseases. This site also provides information about immunization and travel tips.
CURE Search Find information related to specific cancer type, stages of treatment and age group, as well as tips on navigating the healthcare system and how to get support.
Golisano Children' Hospital at Strong The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong in Rochester, NY specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and long-term care of Pediatric cancer patients.
Hip Hats & Hair Create your own look. Many sizes and styles available. Made from soft, stretchable fabric. The Childhood Leukemia Foundation will pay for hip Hat and Hair for any child with cancer. The child should be under the age of 21 and gifts are based on financial need. To receive assistance, the child's Social Worker should fax a copy of the order along with a brief statement of need. Orders are usually processed within 2-3 weeks.
Locks of Love Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children 18 years and younger suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
